venus
an interpretation of boticelli
the goddess of love and beauty has arrived
‘Venus’ embraces the elements depicted by Sandro Botticelli in “The Birth of Venus” (1485). Each piece a motif of the symbols featured in the work, crafted to be reminiscent of treasures left behind by Venus after she was welcomed to land.
Arriving on the island of Cyprus, born of sea spray and blown in from the winds of Zephyr and Aura, Venus is met by Hora, the goddess of Spring.
She is embraced as the goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, and victory.
The necklaces in this collection are crafted from a variety of different materials, but most notably feature freshwater pearls, shells, and glass beads.
The reoccurring textures and colours are inspired by the rich pastels featured in the artwork.
The collection includes three drops, each a different interpretation from the last.
The first drop, Seafoam, is inspired by the sun glinting off the clear water that Venus hovers over, the seafoam that pushes her into shore, and the shells found within the shallow water.
This featurette includes shells and freshwater pearls, along with silver and glass beads.
The second drop, Silvered Wings, is a darker mix, featuring black pearls and opal colours.
These necklaces represent the wings of the angels guiding Venus to Cyprus island, and the silky shawls they adorn.
The third drop, Flora, uses colour and floral motifs to represent the flowers that fall from the angels above, and the shawl the Hora of Spring uses to embrace Venus.
